Thyroid medications are prescribed once your thyroid does not produce sufficient amounts of thyroid hormone. The timeline of Hashimoto’s is: 1- immune system starts attacking the thyroid gland (a process taking weeks/months years); 2- thyroid becomes underactive. If your thyroid produces a sufficient amount of thyroid hormones, you will not be given thyroid replacement medication. What you can do today is to adhere to a healthy lifestyle in order to lower your antibody levels.
